The academic curriculum can be structured to incorporate industrial and commercial experiences and encourage reflection from the placement. Students may be less likely to experience negative feelings associated with change after being away from the institutional environment if the placement experience is weaved into the new curriculum.
Students who have successfully completed a placement could also present their experiences to students at the pre-placement stage as part of the pre-placement curriculum.
